Err, you mean first record ever or first IDM/Whatever record? My first
record bought with my own money was _Rubber_Soul_ by the Beatles, bought
at Gemco in San Jose CA. And I bought the mono version which was a $1 less
than stereo. Followed in quick succession by Revolver, Sgt Peppers, with
odds and bods like Snoopy VS The Red Baron thrown in.

First Electronic Music? My Dad brought home Switched On Bach by Walter
Carlos when it came out, and it got heavy rotation. First thing that
really knocked me out though was "Silver Apples on the Moon" which he got
because he had a standing order for all Nonesuch records.

First IDM/Whatever? I think probably an early seefeel ep on too pure...I was
interested at the time in the leading edge of rock music (Swervedriver,
Band of Susans, Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, etc) and Seefeel was right
in there. And I think what really got me going was the Quoth EP and the
On Remixes.
