SO much of all of that stuff flows from very seminal dance/rnb roots. It
seems like you can take Computer World era K-werk and the afore mentioned
Chic and ilk and find a WHOLE lot of ancestry. A lot of it coalesced in
the Soulsonic/CabVolt/John Robie NY scene away back, but those roots came
out oft the great dance music of Detroit (and, yes - this is ceratinly
arguable, but I don't wish to start that thread). And who (my age,
anyway) could forget Stax, JB and the like?
    Saw Terrence Parker spin last night at the Velvet Lounge and in the
midst of an all old skool/classic house set he made a remark about
heritage and debts which most people don't know about these days. Amazing
set. It was a privelege to be there.
