Sound and handling aside, the real point is its consistency - the NM will work the same and sound the same regardless of load conditions and cannot be loaded past 100% (other by triggering one of the rare bugs). All PC or processor based computed modular approaches I've tried fall apart on that - even before patches fail as the load increases, they change in sound as the timing is inevitably load dependent.
