Actually, if you check out http://www.psygnosis.com/wipeout3/game/developers/ on the wipeout3 page, you'll notice the reference to the designers' republic. They did a lot of graphic designy stuff for wipeout xl, too ... you'll see their little stick-people logos and such around the tracks. As for the game, it's completely insane. Friend of a friend happened to experience it for the first time while under the effects of copious thc, which was a nigh religious eyecandy experience. The intro bit with the racing team logos flashing around everywhere is likely to cause orgasms in Warp-loving IDM listers. TDR's grubby little handprints are all over it, and the game is far cooler for it. I can't think of any other games that have actual Design Merit (other than Fallout 2 maybe ... hmm). The game has TDR visual craziness, hovercraft flying around everywhere, and the even the HUD in-game is more relentlessly bad ass than that of any other recent psx game recently released. Frankly, it spanks. The music, as noted from the commercial, sucks ass. More Sasha and Propellerheads and stuff. Oh well ... one flaw in an otherwise worthy game. Go rent it and comment to your friends on the design phattiness while you 0wn them at high speeds. Can't wait to see it on PC, it will probably look even better. ---- "There is no gang of 'intelligent techno' freaks here who break showroom windows to steal pocket calculators." - Jouni Alkio Jeff Pitrman [cCM] xxxx@xxxx.xxx http://bling.spof.net
