All this does it / doesn't it exist stuff... Continued requests for tracklisting... Extreme scarcity of artist information... Have you ever thought that idm is, to some extent, shrouding itself in mystery. If you ask me, this is probably quite a good thing: mystery does make the whole thing more fun. If you can't be bothered creating your own legend let other people do it for you: give people little enough information, and they'll make something up, which is bound to be more interesting than reality. This is how myths start... Greeks try to explain summer and winter, and come up with Persephone (excuse me if I'm inaccurate). A few slightly misleading / confusing facts thrown in give people something to work with, and then the constant argument about you that ensues keeps yr profile high. This is part of the reason for the effectiveness of the KLF- check out there FAQ to see the level of wierd shit that's talked about them. Occult writers do it too- Alistair Crowley is full of hints that he knows more than he's letting on, and he makes references to other books, some of which exist, then other books write about him, sometmes truthfully. Anyone trying to find out the truth about him (or, in the future, about idm) ends up with a lot of lies and a headache. I s'pose as well, that in a world like dance music, which is for the most part pretty faceless, there is something deeply appealing about all this mystery. It can be pretty funny too, if you don't take it too seriously. Anyhow, since I like it so much, here's my bit of intrigue... I recently saw an NME article about drill n bass, which was partially concerned with discovering the existance, or otherwise, of DJ Tiny Penis. Apart from a comment that he was 'involved at first, but pulled out early on', they say little about him (although I have seen some <dubious> references to him elsewhere. Who is(n't) he? Sorry about the overlong, meandering, inaccurate, badly written post, I'm knackered. Ta ta jorkens
