I'm sure a billion people have responded to this, but think of tortoise as a mix between "rock", "new age", "electronica", "math rock", "low-tec electro", "techno", "jazz" and the occasional off the wall influences like "spagehti western". Stimulating sounds from Chicago's Thrill Jockey Records, Tortoise's music is relaxing and interesting.
