Another decent week. I actually played most of the tracks I'd promised in the beginning of the show. Forgot my copy of the Vapourspace disc at home tho. :) Maybe next week.... This show can be found encoded in mp3 at the website listed at the bottom of the message. Bleepbloop Radio: 11/18/97 [4-6am EST] 1. Global Communication "8:07" (Dedicated) 2. Delarosa "Twilight at Chang Starr's" (Fluid Ounce) 3-track split 12" with a weird drum'n bassy track by the drummer from Tortoise, and this new guy, Delarosa. Very smooth, illbient'ish breakbeats slathered in crunchy distortion. 3. Scorn "Beat 3 mix" (Invisible) From Harris's latest, "Whine"... a few nice beat tracks at the end of what is otherwise a live album. Very nicely produced dub track drenched in hard, overpowering bass. Yummy! 4. Plug "A Subtle Blend" (Blue Planet/Nothing) 5. Orb "Toxygene (Ganja Kru mix)" (Island) From Orbscure Trax... great drum'n bass reworking that's pretty true to the original. 6. Komputer "Looking Down on London" (Mute) 7. Pizzicato Five "Trailer Music" (Matador) 8. Control X "You Better Work It Out" (Bottom Heavy) From Moonshine's new sublabel, Bottom Heavy. This track is amongst the grittier, dance friendly grooves, and is executed exquisitely. 9. Sean Deason & CiM "Detroit, 2030" (Headspace) Split 12" on Headspace, featuring ex-IDM member, CiM. :) This track is certainly one of the more vibrant Detroit nodders I've heard lately. 10. Goldfinch "Ring Fingers" (Republic Records) 11. G-Force "PN Junction" (Kk Records) From the new album, "Electronic Lesson Part One." Very powerful techno track. 12. Medicine Drum "Alpha Return" (911 Entertainment) Nice ambientish track. But, the flipside is the most irritating goa-trance style tripe. Yecch. 13. Friend vs. Dr. Kosmos "Career Opportunities" (Dot) From the release, "Single of the Week." Should of been called Single of the Year. This 2x12" still leaves me in a tizzy, especially this track. The single also features remixes by Metamatics, Clatterbox, and Daniel Ibbotson. 14. Iridium "Ill America" (Lowdown) Anyone wanna claim responsibility for sending me this release? Don't know how it came to arrive in my P.O. Box, but I'm not complaining. This track particularily is a very nice Detroit style techno track, from Canada no less. :) 15. Laurent Garnier "Theme From Larry's Dub" (F Comm.) A seedy, mellowing dub track no less. 16. David Bowie "I'm Afraid of Americans v5" (Virgin) Pleasant reworking by Photek from the new ep. 17. Boymerang "You Like it Like That" (Astralwerks) 18. Bola "Krak Jakomo" (Skam) From the 4-track Bola 12". Love the locked groove at the end. 19. Bochum Welt "Phlughaven Alphand" (Rephlex) Nice mix by Kinesthesia from the Scharlach Eingang 12". See you next week!
