>ok, the point. i know that there's a "more beats & pieces" ep out there. >is this widely available still? Yep. Or it should be. Ninja keeps thier singles in print for a while. I think i bought my copy at Let it Be, but that was at least a year ago. Online stores should have it. On the single, there's a moody john McEntire mix which sounds nothing like the orignal. Two turntablist remixes by Kid Koala and Q-Bert that are basically scratching the same few bits over and over. I find them kindof annoying, moreso than other ISP stuff. T-Power does a pretty good jungle remix. Best mix though is the live version (digitally edited from several performances) by Strictly Kev, Kid Koala, and Ollie Teeba. Like a good live long version with some new bits thrown in. What did you think of the rest of the album (Let Us Play)? Some of it took a while to grow on me. At first i only liked 3-4 tracks, but each time i tried listening to the tracks i didn't like, i found out that i really liked them. Pan Opticon rules my world. >i'm wondering about recommendations or other similar things in that >vein, wif the eclectic mixes 'n stuff, DJ-esque stylings 'n stuff. 3 12"s that i will recommend, all ISP related, and not quite the gems of MB&P. Mix Master Mike "Valuemeal Combo" (often called "Atmosfear/Vyce Grypp") Side B is two album tracks "Can of Kickass" (i believe) and "Vyce Grypp" which are pretty good, but the A-Side "Atmosfear" is really great, lotsof more recognizable samples, more fun. Also, at 15-20 minutes long, worth the price of a 12". You can also get this at CDuctive. Invisible Skratch Piklz "Vs. Da Klamz Uv Deth" Similar to "Atmosfear" but with the benefit of hearing how a group of DJs works it out, doing different bits. Side B is the edited version of Side A. Also 15-20 minutes. Also on CDuctive. Invisible Skratch Picklz "Invasion of the Octopus People" I'm not sure where you could find this (the first 2 are on Asphodel). My friend got this a long time ago. The first part of this track can be found on the Q-Bert album, no problem, but it's not really in the lines of "MB&P." The second half, which might not be them, (it's oddly done, part 1 is weird and fades out and part to is party). Anywyas, it fills the gaps between "More Beats" and Grandmaster Flash's "Adventures on the Wheels of Steel" through 80;s and early 90's hip hop. Really long samples, though, and not much scratching. Also, the Coldcut Journeys by DJ sounds like a 70-minute version of more beats and pieces. I think they used about every sample in MB&P somewhere in their JDJ. Too bad this is out of print. _________________________________ Adam Roesch / xxxxxx@xxxxxxxx.xxx University of Idaho / Moscow / ID / USA Visit my Fila Brazillia/Pork Recordings fan site: http://dogbert.augsburg.edu/~roesch/pork/ "Because success needs killing" TRICKY
