this is what you want, this is what you get. amp ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Mon, 20 Jul 1998 10:17:31 -0700 (PDT) From: Sean Cooper <xxxxxxx@xxxx.xxx> To: xxxxxxx-xxxxxx@xxxxxxx.xxxxxxx.xxx Subject: new andrea parker i picked up the new andrea parker ep on mo'wax this weekend. it's a 2-track 10-inch called "ballbreaker" ("ball" as in discoball, i think; that's the cover art, anyway). it's what you'd expect of any andrea parker release; thick analog electro, dark, minimal, and slightly downtempo. it's less diverse than "rocking chair," i suppose, but that's a matter of interpretation--this is the better single...at least from a rhythmic standpoint. it moves through edgy beatless atmospheres and into polished drumbox breaks with plenty of double- and triple-time hihat stuff going on over the top. if you squint real hard and read the teensy-print writing credits on the inside label, you'll see that both tracks were coproduced by david morley (listening to it will tell you the same thing...some of those synth squelches are unmistakable, and both tracks sound like tightened-up outtakes from morley and parker's "angular art" twelve on infonet). good stuff. sc onnow: biosphere : insomnia (origo sound)
