no personal pun intented! i also hate the "pigeon hole" mentallity but i also hate it when people say one is a snob when he appreciates the thing a certain artist does. Me myself am an acid tekno/industrial/ambient/ harsh-monotone noise freak ,and i am crazy about RDJ his work as caustic/polygon window , AfX ,and early Aphex Twin (classics rules!).Some newer stuf is to light for me or to happy but i still appreciate and love it just BECAUSE it is diverse and in that way makes me appreciate the older stuff even more.. they WONT come back that's just the shit with music trendy trendy trendy sheepy...the same with ACID stuff, people say boring, old,no d'nd etc etc ....but for me it is still fucking mean music..point. any way ,being a snob suck..BUT sometimes it is very annoying to bear with "would be's" (i mean people with a big mouth but know shit about the thing-topic-music they talk or brag about ) I experience this a lot with industrial music..(don't dare to talk about the "Gothic" posers around) AND there is still the difference between USA - Europe....this is no offence it just IS that way... > > > >we are disappointed to declare that most people who appreciate the Aphex >Twin's work (actually, not just him, but many other "intelligent dance >musicians" -- to us, IDM is a meaningless snob term used to degrade other >dance music which may not be as cerebral but is just as or even more >enjoyable to listen to!) are a cowardly and unfaithful lot. they doubt >their musical idol's releases until they are officially cast upon the >world, and speculate like swollen pigs about what he wrote and what he >didn't write. face it. the man is diverse, and you cannot say "so-and-so >MUST be Aphex Twin because of blah-blah-blah". you cannot pigeonhole the >man, face it. accept him for everything he does well. take Flim from the >Come to Daddy EP as an example... do you know how many of you Aphex >listeners were idiotic enough to dismiss this beautiful tune as "airplane >muzak garbage" before it actually came out? all of a sudden, you changed >your opinions! surprise suprise, and shame on you, shame upon your >aired-out little heads. just like Mr. James is, we're all embarassed that >although you claim to adore his work, you miss the point of what his music >is really all about: > >1) enjoyability >2) exploring musical innovation through DIVERSITY >3) pissing people off > > >
