Huh? No hip-hop vibe in Autechre? I listen to A LOT of hip-hop and the first track from Envane was the first track I ever heard from Autechre. My first impression was "Cool. It sounds like hip-hop." Also, when I was trying to introduce some hip-hop headz to electronic music, I played the first track from Envane, and I must admit that the "head nod factor" was very high in the room. The beat on that track sounded like the boom-bap they were accustomed to hearing, so they got into it right away. The same with some of the Boards of Canada stuff. I guess it all comes down to what you think hip-hop sounds like. If you think Mase, Master P, and Silkk the Shocker is hip-hop, then I can understand why you think Autechre doesn't have a hip-hop vibe ;-) -------------Original Message--------------- Date: Tue, 29 Jun 1999 20:04:22 -0400 From: "Jason J. Now while it may have a few staples of hip hop (scratch and sample), it definately lacks the vibe. Nope, no hip hop in Autechre there.
