Hi! >From: "Zenon M. A friend of mine was on the first comp. They're all ok, nothing really experimental but a good representation of the milan scene. Ghittoni's stuff is worth checking out, especially (it's all out on Ishtar). A good ear for vocal trip hop, and lately he has changed his mind and gone back to instrumental and more experimental stuff (which I prefer). Ishtar also published two good comps: "An endless journey" 1 and 2 (not sure about the precise title though), which feature good tracks by the likes of Omni Trio, Fila Brazillia, Silent Poets etc. (plus Ghittoni's and other Ishtar stuff). The italian scene is quite interesting, although it is hard to get good records outside Italy because they are usually pressed in small quantities or, ahem, not pressed at all, because majors in Italy are always a bit coward, and indies tend to broke most of the time, so it's often autoproduction. Moreover, foreign distro is not common in Italy when it comes to IDM etc. Ya gotta be Bochum Welt or Darcangelo, and in that case you get a record deal abroad instead :-) The scene in Rome is an interesting one, maybe more than in Milan. There is a tradition of big style squatting that has always churned out good music, and lately electronics are developing a lot. Naples is big in the trip hop and dub scene (see Almamegretta, for instance, nut it's becoming a stereotype). Quite good stuff from Bologna too, hometown of Irma Records, purveyor of quality (but also lesser quality) lounge, easy listening and d'n'b stuff. Bologna has a very healthy live scene, too. Many people on the list probably know Disturbance, a label from Bari. There is a host of other labels out there that are working on electronics. Keep an eye on Fridge, for example. Hope this helps nd the revolution will be remixed. ....................................................... <table homepage - idm and multimedia> http://www.tinet.ch/table <records for sale/trade etc.> http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Rue/1087/idm.htm .......................................................
