I've read alot about performing artists, and i have a few questions to post
to kind of get an idea where people stand with this.
1. does the popularity of the artist have anything to do with if he/she
plays "live" or off dats, computer, etc.
my opinion, and from what ive seen, no one will say anything when say aphex
twin decides to play "live", even if he is playing off his portable computer.
Is this because he's the "man" of electronic music? I think if an artist does
decide to pleasure us with a performance in our town, shouldn't we just be
thankful that electronic music has grown enough to bring these people out of
their bedrooms?
2. well, its actually just the second part to question one. now, im not sure
how many of you have seen say chemical brothers, underworld live, "heads
rolling" i know, it's the chemical brothers, underworld im speaking of, but
from what ive seen.. it seems as if a gig they play is for a event like
woodstock, or some local event in which they are the "techno" group part of
the event. wouldn't you agree at least that electronic music is being
recognized in the U.S.?
I think you know that people expect to be dazzled by P.A.'s, but isn't enough
that electronic is getting to the point where artists are creeping out of the
bedroom to do what anyother artist does... and thats to make money and to
entertain you with the notion that its a good time. IDM'rs need to be so less
demanding of artists and relize 5 years ago an electronic P.A. was limited to
a few select artists. I give much credit to all artist that improvise in
playing "live". for the artist that play directly from their comp.'s, at
least for me, tease me with creating some varities in your stuff.
thanks again for reading this i dont think im out of line when i wrote this.
i think anything to get more artist to my town and play is fantastic..
phonecia, I-F, funksturong, kid606, hrvatski, please come to Portland, Or.
nice!!!!
thanks again,
mark
