(idm) heartwarming idm story

after all this idm negativity, here's my heartwarming idm story for the
week:

This afternoon I was at KCSB (the radio station I work at) listening to
the new Suction and M.A.S. 12"s I had just recieved in the mail when a
couple hip hop dj friends of mine came into the studio I was using and
asked how I was doing. Having just finished listening to and putting my
records away, I offered to let them use the studio I was in. I packed up
my stuff and began to leave, but as I was walking out the door, one of
the guys yelled "hey brian, you ever heard of a hip hop label called
schematic?" I quickly turned around. He continued saying "yeah, i just
picked up this Push Button Object 12" while I was in San Francisco this
last weekend. this shit is the future of hip hop!" He threw his new
find on the turntable and we sat there and had our collective asses
kicked by the music. After we were done listening to some selections, i
told him, yeah I'd heard of schematic, but that it's an idm label, not a
hip hop label. They disagreed saying, "yeah, they've been putting out
this dope electro-hip hop shit for a while now". Again, I countered,
saying "no, they've been putting out dope idm shit for a while". In
order to prove my point, I threw down the decidedly idm releases from MAS
that I had received earlier. They balked at the similarities (and then
asked for a dub). I left mumbling something about it being the future of
electronic music, while from the left of me came some mumbling about the
future of hip hop music. Folks, i have crossed bridges today, let's
all...share...(sniff) the idm message...(sniff) with someone...else.

It's always cool turn someone on to the wonders of idm, especially when
we've been living so close to hip hop people for so long musically, but
we are blind to them and they are blind to us. One big happy family,
that's what I'm talking about.

BTW, can anyone give me some recommendations for Push Button Object? How
many releases are there?
