Also, he often has good taste in other people's music,, and if the net
offect of his babble is to expose people to hip-hop, electronic, and
experimental musics they haven't heard, good for him.  Basically, he's a
huge music fan/record collector who also happens to engage in enormous
amounts of bullshit and bad music-making. His DJ sets tend to be
interesting when he plays interesting music (which he has been known to
do), not because his skills add much of anything to the mix. It's worth
acknowledging that in his self-promotion lies a decent amount of promotion
for others--Xenakis, Organized Konfusion, Kool Keith, etc.--who deserve as
much attention as they can get.
        That doesn't mean you should listen to his music or read his
writing...
