It seems to capture as much subtlety in the original signal as I can hear. Sound is pretty subjective, though. It also has a 20-bit SPDIF output so its D/A stage can be bypassed, even though it sounds good, too. If you can wait, the next generation of affordable cards will have digital inputs as well. Not sure if this card is up to professional standards, but the sound its A/D converter produces is very sharp, near enough for the price and indistinguishable to my (silly) ears. If it matters to anyone here with a social conscience, Borders is unfair to labor, not allowing its employees to organize unions. Conscience tends to fade when you're holding the CD you want in your hands, but if you don't go in the store, this won't happen. Take care.
