Right up my alley - I find myself veering more and more into this
vaguely termed "acid jazz" territory with trip-hop thrown in (sorry
IDM, don't kick me off the list just yet!)

"endemic distortion" did a great job listing lots of what would come
to my mind too - a good recent comp to check out is The Eclectic
Sound of Vienna. I've got Vol 2 of - I think - a 3-vol. series on
SPRAY. The Studio !K7 range of compilations is very extensive -
try the Freestyle Files (loads to choose from) and also "Offering"
and "Offering 2".

Still with the compilations, there is the well known Dope on Plastic
range (gosh, about 6 of them out by now?) equally Give 'em
Enough Dope (the series) covers this genre as does the Future
Sound of Jazz.

The Waldeck album mentioned in another post is not to my
personal liking, but you might get some joy from Sofa Surfers'
"Transit" (97 on Klein records, Vienna).

Michael Wells' Signs of Chaos "Departure" has an excellent loungy
feel, without being too cheezy. Also the Serenity Dub and
Submerged series on Incoming! are worth looking out for.

And I can't say the name Ian O'Brien often enough :-)

Have fun!
