a few reviews:

<< .. Kirlian: Pleasure Yourself cd/2x12" (Disko B)

Another eccentric collection of styles from Hollis, Queens own Abe Duque.
Title track "Pleasure Yourself" is deep and minimal, with Abe on the mic doing
some sensual whispered vocals... Some nice down tempo stuff, and interesting
latin influenced syncopated techno. Different stuff, refreshing. Higlight of
the release: at the end, there are what Abe calls "endorsements", which is a
collection of answering machine messages from some of the biggest names in
techno saying they pleasure themselves... Got to check it out!

.. Thomas Bangalter vs Alan Brax: Vertigo 12" (Roule)

Just heard this one yesterday, holy shit the Bangalter edit rocks (although
it's a bit cheddar...) Total dancefloor killer, very typical Daft Punk moves,
freaky filtering and all, but he pulls them and gets out, no messing around.

.. Particle SHower: The Voice of Grandmother 12" (Red Planet 8)
.. Underground Resistance: Turning Point 2x12" (UR)
 .. Population One: Earth 2976 12" (Metroplex)

I was somewhat dissapointed with all three of these, the Red Planet was not
outstanding in the least, the Underground Resistance was interesting, but I'm
not sure if it's techno anymore, more like TV funk or something. I like the
Population One the best, I'm always up for Terrence Dixon material, but this
one was marred by bad mastering/pressing - I couldn't tell how much I liked
the music.

.. Locomotive (Marco Carola): Steam 12" (Tritone)

Got a promo of this, typical Carola, very Purpose Maker influenced but
thoroughly bangin' and effective. In my box for sure.

.. Heiko Laux: Dedicated to All Believers 12" (Yoshitoshi)

I don't usually brag, but this time I can't help myself ;) I know the Deep
Dish guys well, and Heiko is also a friend of mine. I turned on Deep Dish to
the original release of Dedicated to All Believers, and they fell in love with
it. Next time I saw them, they were all excited because they were going to
liscense the track. Anyway, industry gossip aside, I love this record - on
the Yoshitoshi release, there is a beautiful deep and bassy Sammy Dee and
Heiko Laux remix of the original cut. Both the original and new mix are
classic deep minimal techno house. Get it!

 .. Synewave sampler 2x12" (Synewave)

Very very good comp, all new tracks, I believe at least one of the tracks was
done by Function and Regis together. From deep to hard minimal (but not too,
it's got all the right moves and grooves) Neccessary.

.. The Modernist: Dali Bop Horiz 12" (Harvest)

Anyone check the Modernist album? Anyway, this 12" is of the best album cut,
bouncy quirky and musical Cologne style minimal shit, fun to play on the
dancefloor as well as listen to. It's got a Mike Inc "Auftrieb" mix that's
thick and heavy, not as swingy as the original, but totally dope. Another one
in my box...

.. Steve Poindexter: Demolition Man 12" (DJAX)

Solid tracks from the man himeself, got all the Chicago funk you want, crazy
vocals, acidic noises (but no 303's thankfully). This release would fit right
into a set next to DJ Rush...

.. A Crash: Chain Reaction 12" (Electric Music Foundation)

Dissapointing, too crunchy, annoying vocal samples, better luck next time

 .. Jeroen: Sized/Square 12" (Search)

Nice smooth musical minimal tracks on one side, slightly harder tech on the
other. Not as outstanding as earlier Search release, but solid enough. Like
Dutch techno? Go for it.
