Well, prefer the opposite and you'll see what's so good. :-)

For the record, I think Oval (particularly 'Systemisch') generally sound very clean and deliberate, but that's probably applying slightly different meanings to the words you're using.

I got the impression that enjoyable music seemed to be a complete sideline to the point of Oval stuff. That 'Systemisch' might be an enjoyable listen always strikes me as more coincidence than anything.

I was a little baffled by Markus Popp turning up on Gastr Del Sol's latest, because that seemed to have little to do with wilful exercises in sound design or comment on the restrictive processes involved in writing electronic music, and a lot more to do with adding texture to the background of songs. Maybe Markus Popp got soft. ;-)
