As many of the so-cal crew, I have quite a few of Alex's early demos on CD-R (and even his first on casette, hiw big is my dick now?) I also have recordings of the orange material and future releases. I had the isophlux rtelease a month or two before it came out, and I still bought it on vinyl. I have the entire mastered orange release, and I already placed an advance order for it. Why? Because alex is my homey, and I think his stuff is completely dope and I want to not only support him, but people like gonzi (and even shad) who are going out on a limb to support this music even though they know that they'll never make any money doing it. Everyone involved at this level is doing it because they like it, just like college/public radio and small cheap/free events. If we don't support grassroots efforts, then all we'll have to look forward to is the next warp release and mega-rave with aphex twin. I mean, that stuff's cool, and if it wasn't for warp and thier vast financial releases then this genre wouldn't exist, but all you sweaty trainspoters and collectors wouldn't have much to do with your day if it weren't for all these indie releases. 8) So don't burn copies of homegrown shit that you can just order from PJ. Besides, gonzi's gone well out of his way to make the first 500 copies of "Double Density" collectors items.
