It's too bad that you watch TV.

Burningman is about doing what you want to do. This is not limited to
naked hippies. Our group ran Frequency Publica, where we invited DJs to
come an spin whatever they wanted to. The quality of music was
incredibly good. Most people spun IDM, including me. Some people played
some great Cuban music, one guy played nothing but Tangerine Dream (he
brought 75 CDs of nothing but TD material and spin offs), two English
guys who run a club in London played nothing but "Smack my Bitch up" for
an hour.

There must have been 20 camps with DJs spinning on 2 turntables. Some
really good speed garage stuff, and some boring 4x4 trance, but always
something happening.

The 18 foot Tesla coil was the coolest thing out there. Imagine
lightning slowly growing out of this monolith, until the arcs are 30
feet long and then smashing a 5 feet in front of you into the ground,
with everyone around screaming and jumping up and down. The 10 watt
laser shooting across the desert was cool. The UFOs in the air, the
gigantic gasoline fireballs, the molotov cocktail training camp,
Electrobot (a man inside a metal suit touching the Tesla coil), the
trebuchets (medieval catapults), the cirque du flambe, and the Man
himself exploding into megacandle-watt flares. And everyone is so
fucking excited! I mean where else can you see people yelling and
dancing up and down to the crackle of the Tesla coil?!

Did I mention the phantom blue horse that ran across the desert?

BTW, I remained fully clothed except when I took a shower.
