cd's have no trouble encoding <20hz, infact, i think cd's have a better time with low frequencies than vinyl does, (no needle inertia issues). most decent sound systems have low frequency filters to keep speakers from doing unnecessary work, of course there is not much threat of encountering any decent sound systems while shopping at radioshack. i think for my next project i'm going to attach a subwoofer directly to my face and see which artists/labels use ultra low frequency eliminators during mastering. if you were very clever you could hide information in the ultra low frequency range of cd's. a listener could access that information by playing the cd at ten times normal speed. hmm... i might try this. n. > > If the lowest frequency you can get out of a CD is 20 Hz, how did you > > achieve the lower frequencies? > > i guess you generate them straight from the sound card? trade secret. > > -- > david >
