Circle has pretty good intl (read: US) distribution for a Bad Vugum band- not exactly sure why, but maybe because they're more tolerable to the ears of the world at large than most of their contemporaries (including the very awful Deep Turtle, Keuhkot and Lesser/Kid 606/Merzbow labelmates Dr. Gunni). I dipped my hands into the Meronia 2LP and found them coated with a substance not too unlike the post-Kraut exploits of the first couple of Faith Healers 12"es (and the very rock, very early Too Pure stuff in general). None too compelling, but it seems to fit the bill of the original post, I guess. I'm sure if they were on Thrill Jockey, they'd be on the cover of every "indie" rag, but they'd still sink like a stone- consider their much more accomplished Finnish predecessors: Radiopuhelimet (single on Alt Tentacles during the unfortunate Alice Donut years- I'm _still_ looking for a copy of _KO_) and Liiminarina (album on Drag City when they could do no wrong in the eyes of the Pavement/Trux enchanted indie world- went straight into the cheapie bins). Anyway, to be topical- is there an on-line Paradinas discography anywhere? I picked up a mysterious white label ostensibly titled "Dauphine" and am trying to fit it into his discography somewhere. Likewise, has anybody established (with reasonable authority) the track-listing for MASK 300? Finally- a musing on the IDM poll: wouldn't it make more sense to use the results of the first round to _disqualify_ the top 5 in each category from receiving votes in the second round (and thus establish a semi-ranked top 10)? I don't think you need a fortune-teller to figure out that Boards of Canada/Autechre/Sqpusher are going to win hands-down; I personally am much more interested in the other stuff that people are listening to. -rob
