Once more thanks for all the input. I'm leaning towards the CS30L. I
guess the CS30 could be modded for "brilliance" - for example, the
volume pedal input could be changed to filter CV input, so there would
be no need to add any custom controls to the synth itself (I'd hate to
make any ugly DIY mods), and a pedal volume control is relatively easy
to add after the output of the synth... But I gotta make up my mind
and for some reason I feel like finding a CS30L is the priority,
although I would still consider a CS30 if the deal was good.

About the sound difference between the CS30(L) and CS20M: I can't
comment on this as I've never played a CS30, but back in the days I
borrowed my friend's CS15 and hooked it up with my CSS20M for a 4
oscillator 3 filter monster. I never really "tried" to spot a
difference between the sound, but to me they seemed to have the same
basic sound. One little difference was with the square wave, but this
was related more to the controls than the sound itself - on the CS20M,
setting the PW knob all the way to the maximum counter-clockwise
position, you wouldn't get a symmetrical square wave, instead you'd
get something like 48% width pulse wave. For a square wave you needed
to move the knob a couple of degrees back - in a way the PW goes
"over". With the CS15 the square wave was where it's supposed to be.

If I can't find a good deal on a CS30(L) in the near future, I might
consider a Matrixbrute, but for that I'll start another thread :)
