<< just want to say a big thanx to KUMQUAT for sharing his music...>> You are all very welcome...I'm having a great time perusing the feedback as it rolls in...for example, I really enjoyed bauri's (rather poetic) comments, as shown below: << mad fun sounds like rad sb16 midi and silly vocal samples in the mixer with the little mermaid with a little scratching and funk on the side happy stuff good work, kq just wait til i drop this on in one of my chill out sets the people will freak mix it with some gritty toaster noises i bet it will be oh oh so sweet >> Happy stuff, yes...guess I'm a happy-go-lucky fellow at heart (but sometimes life gets in the way)...although there are a couple more dark-ish moments on the record (see "everyone is afraid of clowns"). Bauri, wish I could be there in Sweden to hear you drop some kumquat in your set, and to hear the gritty toaster noises. Please elaborate on the little mermaid comment. kurt pruenner writes: << np: Kumquat - The Windmills The Fairies (Kumquat) (This disc is self-titled, isn't it? Or did I miss something? :) >> The entire deal is simply "kumquat." Q: It this the name of the artist, or of the release? A: Yes. Also, there is no entity "Kumquat Records," although I suppose you can use that if you feel the need to assign a label name (I didn't feel this need). You could also use "Eggbeater Records" - not that anything exists (that I know of) with this name, but it sounds cool. I'm not terribly interested in running my own label, as I'd rather spend my time cooking up new trax, so I'm looking to hook up with one or more existing imprints. xx@xxxxxxxxxx.xxx (.rr) writes: << This is summer music. Fun sample-madness as others have said, and very nice packaging. >> And, conveniently, we happen to be in the very first week of summer (except for those of you in the southern hemisphere, of course). - Fred Church xxxxxxxxxx@xxx.xxx http://www.thelocus.com/kumquat (see this site for details of free CD offer) Subj: (idm) Kumquat CD Date: 99-06-22 18:14:30 EDT From: xxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxxx.xxx (Wenger) Been on this list for about 6 months and I've not seen anything like this before, is this the biggest give-away thats ever happened on the list? Its a cool CD as well, even the box it came in has artwork on and the CD cover itself is "busy" to say the least. Love the sampladelic scratchadelic electro sound too Big thanks must go to Mr Church for his generosity, nice on mate! Said this before, but no idea if it made it to the list... If Mr Church is still handing out cds, down yourself a favor and snag one... quite a bit of funk filled fun.
