I've never met a kid (meaning between 4 and 12) that didn't like Bootsy
Collins. Your kids obviously could use some funk. :)

When I used to work at Corporate Records, err, Tower Records I listened to
a lot of Soukouss (I worked in the jazz/world section) and little kids
would always dance around and sing along to it while their parents were
picking out the latest in "jazz product" music (like Hiroshima and Kenny
G and other equally disgusting stuff.)

It was pretty cool to watch those kids though (and listen to them try to
sing along with these african guys singing in whatever language they use
for songs in Zaire) Nana Vasconcelos (brazillian precussion weirdo, later
fusion dork, now back to weirdo) was also a big hit with the short crowd.

You're in Africa, so I doubt you'll have any trouble getting Kanda Bongo
Man (or whoever) records (the one remixed by autechre is pretty cool, by
the way.)
