(idm) impaled on pistons, whipped by timing belts

Never seen the film. Reviews were spotty and I was immediately suspicious
of a film that advertised winning a "most daring" award.

The book is eerily sexy and at the same time emotionally detached of
itself. I feel like screaming by at 80 mph on a packed sidewalk after
reading a couple of paragraphs, running over as many beautiful people as
possible... <g> (I wonder if that qualifies as an orgy in Ballard's eyes?)

Seeing as how we're discussing (or not discussing, oddly enough) electronic
music on this list, this book is somewhat relevant -- dealing with
behaviors such as: communication with others using technological devices as
a medium (e.g., idm-list, irc); masochism as a means of dealing with others
(e.g., the entire 'industrial' electronica genre: prodigy, nin, skinny
puppy, et al.), etc. Interesting ground to cover, here.

Alex

ps. 'Passion' is an excellent, atmospheric work. I remember walking through
the Aegytisches Museum in Berlin while listening to the third track off
that cd. Breathtaking.

Is it as stomach-churningly revolting as the film?
...
np : Peter Gabriel's Passion - which I've finally gotten hold of!
