fortunately, they're also entirely subjective.  (i also said 'rarely',
not 'never'.)

i don't like mc solaar although i'll acknowledge that he's done a lot
for french hip-hop (i.e. he practically invented it).  however, perhaps
a bit because of this influence, i find most french hip-hop to be way
too tame, even the 'gangsta' stuff that has picked up recently & that's
even more funny to look at than wu tang can ever hope to be.

after daft punk & air, as well as a slew of french music during my
youth, my opinion is that france seems to have a hard time producing
decent &/or innovative music.  if anyone disagrees, thank god.
