Artist: Johnny Ether
Title: Free Radical Generator
Label: Clock Wise Records

I buy and receive a lot of records/CDs sometimes a few fall between the
cracks and get passed over. Sad but true. This release had been hiding
among the dark corners of my desk and I decided to put it in. Think nice
urban (whatever that means) beats mixed with subtle experimentation which
overall is influenced by an ethnic/indian flavor. All at once accessible
and original. One of the tracks is pure sitar with a drone like ambiance.
Very striking. All this comes from Clock Wise records. The person who
runs the label used to be on this list; not sure if they are still here.
Have not heard of any new releases but I hope they are still going at it.
The label itself is a unique find. The overall passion seems to be an
urban sound but they are not afraid to move past that. Another release,
fascia, sounds like something you would find on kranky (comes with a nifty
quicktime as well). Expect a future review of that...
