Dom from World Records writes: << I read once that Brian Eno recorded walking from his home to the shops and back. He played it back at home and tried to remember where he was on listening back. Thats the sort of stuff I would be interested in hearing. >> Well, I'd be happy to make some recordings of this nature for you. Consider the following possibilites: - waking up in the morning: brushing teeth, urinating, etc. - cutting the grass with a power mower - ordering a tuna fish sandwich at a local delicatessen - typing e-mails at computer keyboard, nearby cat purring Of course I'm half joking, but on the other hand I'm half not joking. You might consider Olejandra and Underwood's work for some found sound treatments. "The Children's Album" has eerily transfixing material like "Kids Playing Baseball, East Village, NYC." And you can't beat the innovative packaging: a piece of construction paper, a cut-out of a strange card depicting cartoony telephones used to illustrate a math problem (at least mine looks like that - each one is different, I believe, and made by hand). Much of the material involves random people singing strange little songs from their youth...not necessarily in tune. Oh yeah, if you're smoking banana peels and you listen to that track, you'll hear subliminal sounds of kids playing baseball. - Fred Church xxxxxxxxxx@xxx.xxx http://www.thelocus.com/kumquat (where *free* postage-paid kumquat cd's wait patiently to be sent to *you*)
