Question: does anyone own or has anyone used the Guillemot Maxi Studio Isis? I'm interested in this card, which has gotten good reviews and generally seems like it could be a good deal. I have a Guillemot maxi gamer phoenix video card which has filled my expectations for a great price, so I have some faith in the company. The 8 ins/4 outs is a little odd, I wish that were switched, but hey. Otherwise, it sounds good from what I've read, and the support for little 'gaming' 3d sound things like Microsoft's directx and Aureal's stuffs would be a nice bonus. It's not a big deal, but my friend has a Layla and has had a lot of problems with games and apps not recognizing his card. I'm not really looking to go buy a wad of synths to record, as I am pro-software synth digital boy all the way, but the optical in would be very hep for dumping down some DAT recordings or the like. I almost wonder if this card is overkill for my needs since most of my noises pretty much exist in digital land all the time, but I'm thinking to being able to go play at an ODP or somesuch silliness. So ... to anyone who's used it: does this card seem like it would have a nice sound if you were going from, say, software synth noises to some effects boxes and back in? Good sound going into a mixing board for a PA? Nice sound when recording synths or real instruments? Good sound when you're spanking someone in Unreal Tournament?
