ok, i'll bite...an interesting enough thread

my first tape was either michael jackson's "thriller" or quiet riot's "metal health"...a bit of diversity there.
from there i got into the fat boys, newcleus, the breakin' movies, and lots of stuff i heard on the radio that i can't remember the names of.
then i moved out to the middle of nowhere and had to listen to bad pop for a few years...this led to listening to depeche mode and erasure, which led to new order and the cure and joy division. then, towards the middle of high school, the first nine inch nails album came out, and i went from there to skinny puppy.
in college, i briefly explored the world of bad "industrial" skinny puppy knock-offs before getting into real industrial stuff (neubauten, spk, throbbing gristle, and especially coil)
sometime in '94, i think, i bought autechre's "incunabula" after reading a bunch of reviews of various bands, and getting the names confused. expecting something different, i thought the album was a wanky piece of crap, but on second listen i started to get into it. i also heard a lot of hype about aphex twin, so i stole a copy of "saw 2" and let it depress the hell out of me for a while...then i got the artificial intelligence comps, and then more aphex. by the time autechre's "amber" came out, i was hooked...
