Richard Coleman Devine (new one on Schematic) I like this record. It grows on me a little more everytime I listen to it. It has an funky electro groove I can dance to (in my slow-beat style!) but it's still packed out with the distorted, grungy tech-noise Richard is known for by his earlier techno releases for Communique & Six Sixty Six. The flute-like melodies are a nice touch, they balance out the hard beats. & he samples speak & spell...how can you go wrong?! The thing of it is...Richard told me these tracks are over a year & a half old. I wonder what he's cooking up in his studio kitchen now ;) After bugging the record store buyers for weeks, I finally got my hands on the new Boards of Canada. (we're a little behind down here in Atlanta). It's as beautiful as you all hailed it to be...exactly my style... & is my fav for the month! My other record of choice is the Jurassic Five EP. My favorite is the song right before Lesson 6 (but only because I've played lesson 6 time & time again since the release of Deep Concentration last year) I picked up the new Ninja Tune comp. Kungfunkfusion (?) I found it to be a little lackluster compared to previous Ninja comps & albums, except for the Gilberto ensemble which I'm convinced must be Squarepusher. The design detailing is exquisit & might I add that the visual reels during the tour blew me away. out carter way down south ps any idmers gonna be at Jeff Mills/ Claude Young on the 4th of July? ............................................................................ ......... clock wise records 1611 marlbrook drive NE atlanta GA 30307 404.371.3401 voice 404.377.5403 fax xxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxx.xxx
