I think that artists often "lose the plot" from one piece of work to the next. I know I do- I'll be in a zone one day or one weekend and make some fascinating shit, then later I can't seem to find the hole in my ass much less a worthwhile sound/pattern. I can also very easily see this happening on an album-to-album basis, knowing the way a lot of people work. I don't play with concepts, so my stuff is on strictly a track-by-track basis, but for people who do I can see where somebody might totally go into wank-land for 74 minutes' worth of stuff before coming back down to earth. And not only that, but i've heard it happen. Everybody go take a listen to the first half of 4 Hero's "Two Pages". Tom
