>Also picked up a compilation of Strata East recordings (who?) called
>Strata-2-East, which is a compilation of some of their releases from
>1972-1975 on a jazz/funk tip. Features lots of unknown (to me) names,
>but is ace all the same. Looks like I've been missing out. Anyone know
>what the previous comp is like, or anything else about the artists on
>here?

i've only heard the first volume, two words- get it; all those who about ramble on about
'the funk' in techno should grab of hold of this for a slice of the real deal

funny thing about strata-east is that it was a label set up by black musicians
specifically on the premise of protecting black artists from the exploititive
mechanics of the white music industry, then you guessed it, after it started making
money, the guys who ran it fucked off with all the dough
