Yeah, this is something else that I was going to mention. Lack of money
is a big factor when deciding what music to buy. Those who only buy for
example only 1 CD a month or so will be more likely to put their money
into something that they trust will be good hence the convegence towards
certain trusted IDM bands. And I think they are totally right to do so.
It's those that don't have the inclination that I think I would have a
problem with (then again, who cares, it's up to them whatever the hell
they want to buy - it would just be a shame that they didn't feel what I
feel in music, which is something I often wonder about other people).

Aren't you ever tempted to forsake something by the above bands for
something you've never heard before? I don't do this as much as I
should, but when I do I have often found some of my favourite records
(then again it turns up an equal amount of crap). I'm not trying to
preach or say "do what I do" or anything, I'm just interested in your
(or anyones) motivation behind buying music.

Yeah, fortunately for me it is not too difficult to get hold of things
because as much as I hate to admit it, having to mail-order things
totally puts me off. Also, I'm curious, do you spend all your spare cash
on music? This is often another factor. Some people divide their cash
between thing they enjoy (music/movies/general entertainment) while
other just stick to one thing. I am a total music junky and buy as much
as my dole money will allow me, but some people are content to just keep
up with the popular IDM (or whatever) bands and that does them fine. I
don't think I'd be able to just stick with a certain few bands, I don't
know why. Maybe its just the thrill of hearing something which really
connects that I haven't heard before. Everything after an artists first
LP just doesn't seem to be half as fulfilling. I *think* its 'cos the
music is better the fresher it sounds, but I'm not really sure...
