It's not surprising that people don't know alot about Detroit techno. It hasn't received nearly the amount of credit due. I'm talking stateside, I know it's pretty respected in Europe. Not to mention alot of US record stores don't carry very much domestic artists. US distribution for that stuff is pretty weak, unless it's house. Watts which is one of the US biggest distributors sucks. They are pretty decent about carrying Jeff Mills, some Red Planet 12"s, and Aux 88. But for the most part ignore or buy very small amounts from other US labels (Detroit or elsewhere). I know Schematic had a really hard time for while. It's no wonder why a label like Isophlux sent almost all the Lexaunculpt 12"s straight to Germany and not try and deal with any US distributors. Which sucked because you could find any of his records locally. I think most US techno gets pretty poor US media coverage. Which really hurts the scene over here. More people know about the European artists and therefore that stuff is what more people know and buy. _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!?
