I'm 5 tracks in to this new CD called Formed Verse by Neina (aka Hosomi Sakana) on Mille Plateaux, and it's giving me the same chills that Oval's *94Diskont* and Nuno Canavarro's *Plux Quba* inspired on first listen. I've a feeling Neina's going make huge ripples among IDMers who like subtle "DSP fuckery" and CD-vandalization methodology (if that's indeed what Neina's doing here; it's hard to tell exactly how the sounds are being created). For example, track 5 sounds like DISC after being forcefed a handful of Quaaludes. Overall, though, Neina has a beautiful sense of melody, which overrides his occasional forays into abrasiveness. According to the press sheet, Hosomi has began his career as a keyboardist in 1984 and has collaborated with over 100 musicians and contributed to over 200 recordings. Good to see an old geezer making such an impressive move into IDM.
