I have to add myself to the people who have given positive reviews of O' Boy by Plod, it really is a delicious cd, those who would like to live in a world of lush Selected Ambient Works 1-style music can't go wrong here. The five tracks can just be stuck on repeat, both relaxing and engaging at the same time. There is a real development of tracks and a B12/Black Dog method of both building and twisting the melodies used. Often reminds me of the emotional qualities of Cylob but without such abrasiveness. Ae and Aphex influences are certainly here although Plod are maturing and developing a style of their own which I will be keen to watch out for in the future. Dilly Builder, from their last tape (Backgammon) was one of my favourite tracks of last year and this ep/album continues at that level and gets even better. What I particularly like about this music is that it is so damn listenable, Its almost as if Plod are saying that weve gone beyond experimentalis and want to come back to making music we can really listen and engage with. If you dont own a copy try and beg, borrow or steal one - when these guys get a contract you'll be wishing you had one of their early and very rare discs! wp: Plod - O'Boy (twice in one night, whats wrong with me?)
