And it *would* prolly have a lot to do with where I am living at the moment. Most of my female friends who are into or curious about electronic and/or experimental music aren't from around here. I met a few living in Montreal, and the other ones are spread out across Sweden, France and the western United States. I also find that quite a few girl friends of mine (as opposed to girlfriends... grin) who didn't know this stuff at all expressed a much more genuine interest and desire to hear the music than most of my guy friends (except for the ones into it already). And this isn't just accessible stuff like Ae or Aphex Twin, but Merzbow and Aube and what not as well. And said friends then came out to a few shows as well... it was cool. Also, at the Autechre show in Montreal (which, no offense, just about put me to sleep, and I'm a big fan... David Kristian blew them off the stage, IMHO, despite the uninterested crowd that was there for Derrick Carter), I was sitting beside a girl who had her eyes closed, head down and was geeking out to the music IDM-trainspotter-boy style, which was nice. ...so what am I trying to say in this rambling post? Nothing I guess. Just offering some counter-examples to all the "girls who can't get into IDM" posts. Though I do wish there were more out there, because the dating pool seems pretty shallow around here these days, but then again that could just be Ottawa...
