The acid house comps i was thinking of weren't Jack the Tab on Wax Trax, they were the Jack Trax, Acid Trax, and Son Of Acido comps on the Chicago Trax label all of which came out back in 88-89. No wonder i couldn't remember their names - it's been ten years!< Xmas '88, I received 2 records from mum and dad - 'Techno, The New Dance Sound Of Detroit' and a smart acid compilation called 'House Hallucinates Volume 1' which included the rather poor but rousing nontheless 'Pump Up London' which me and mi pals had great laffs singing along to... "Manchester! Liverpool! Hacienda!..." etc. etc. I believe the original version of that track was 'Pump Up Chicago' (by Mr. Lee) but I'm afraid that namechecking the grim-up-north cities of my teenagerdom accompanied by a wibbling 303 was more appealing to me than paying tribute to the home of house. 10 years later, both of these vinyl delights are proving rather more interesting than the monogrammed tie and hankie set I received off my Auntie Meg. Let that be a lesson young 'uns. Damon.
