Matmos will be hosting a chat on the web on October 13. The site is Insound (www.insound.com) and we will be there from 9pm to 10pm EST (aka 6 to 7 California time). Please feel free to drop by and bug us about things, debate us about the concept of "IDM" etc. An MP3 of something new from us might go up a few days beforehand, so keep watching the skies. . . . Other Matmos-related upcoming projects: - one half of a split 12" and CD with quasi-chamber orchestra group Rachel's- our track is a very dark and strange 20:00 minute thing, started as a Rachel's remix and grew from there. I'm still too close to it to evaluate further. The Rachel's track is an almost Metallica-ish remake of an old song of theirs from their first lp. The combined record should be sorta baffling for Rachel's fans, but that's life. This will come out in Spring 2000 (barring world economic collapse) on the 1/4 Stick label (which is a subdivision of Chicago indie rock giant label Touch N Go). - one half of a split Fat Cat release- probably with DAT Politique, probably out in spring of 2000. A long 10:00 minute epic cut-up with Jay Lesser and Dave Pajo guesting. - a track on a forthcoming Bubblecore compilation- a kind of offshoot of "The West", but somewhat more raga-ish (with Martin on vocals!). - a remix of Sutekh's "Toy Piano" track on the Deadpan Escapement remixes release (on Context, I think) which should also have Phoenecia and Stewart S. Walker remixes. -->-Lance--- xxxxx@xxxxxxxxx.xxx p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states
