This would explain why the >last "Black Dog" album, Music for Adverts was such crap. With such a carefully considered expression of personal taste one can only admire Rychard's informed opinion. As it happens, Ken has great admiration for Ed's creative ability (on more than one occasion I've heard him refer to Ed as "a Genius"). This constant attempt by certain people to create a flaming war of comparison between The Black Dog and Plaid is really tiring, primarily since there doesn't seem to be much intelligent debate going on - "he's crap, they're great"... we're back to kindergarten! I doubt Plaid are particularly eager to have people supporting them in this way either. Look, if you love Plaid music that's great and if you hate The Black Dog's music... fine. That's your democratic choice. Nothing you say is going to make Ken compromise his creative output, or apologise for what he's doing. If you can do better, why not give it a shot? I'm sure it's the same for Plaid. We're still doing our thing, Plaid are doing theirs, and we all went our seperate ways LONG AGO. We are human beings and, unsurprisingly, calling our music "crap" is pretty vicious. We all work *very* hard at Black Dog Productions - you may not like what we're doing but our heart and soul goes into it - the "Foundations" compilation to support The Big Issue is further evidence of this (entirely funded by Black Dog Productions, thanks to money received from that "crap" album). I bet few of you still have the same best friend you had a school... but does that mean you no longer care for them? :) Things change... all part of life's rich, interwoven tapestry. Plaid made their choice. We must all live with it. If you thought Music For Adverts was "crap", that's your opinion (personally, I read the IDM list for the more considered opinions concerning the music genre I love - whether or not I share them). NME, The Face, Melody Maker, The Wire, DJ, The Guardian etc all loved Music For Adverts, but that's THEIR opinion. Neither is the definitive answer - music is *entirely* subjective, but we should respect each others taste. I don't see any reason to "put down" fans of The Black Dog or Plaid. If you don't like The Black Dog's music then leave it on the shelf. Don't buy it. But, please accept the fact that some people do and will - and thanks to those that do ;) That doesn't make them less intelligent than you are, they just have different tastes. The Black Dog and Plaid come from completely different directions, you can all choose the route you prefer or (gasp, can it be possible?) even travel BOTH! The Black Dog Productions collective would like to officially state that whether you exclusively buy Plaid records or Black Dog records we'll defend your right to choose either! There's plenty of space for both, and in our humble opinion IDM would suffer without either. P.L.U.R., Keir BLACK DOG PRODUCTIONS p.s. For those that listen, I sincerely hope you'll enjoy "BABYLON" anyway... here's to peace in the Middle East! :) + . /\___/\ . * | < The Black Dog > | + * . . * . . * (. .) + | | . * . * + ___ooO__\-/__Ooo___ | | + + + + . /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ | Dogma >> | http://www.feedback.com/tbd/ * 3-5-3 * (Dis)information > | xxx@xxxxxxxx.xxx
