Three releases which have dominated my stereo recently: Arovane - Icol Diston This release has a lot of fascinating textures vaguely similar to BC/CR and Pole output, and some truly wonderful melodies. I would love to hear a full-length of this stuff. Ed Rush / Optical - Wormhole I disagree with those who say this doesn't live up to the hype. The production is indeed 'tight' as someone just mentioned; I'd even go as far as to say that the styling is very 'elegant' yet somewhat funky. In some ways I'd even liken their output to that of Autechre's - they take an idea or approach and keep tweaking it, so that several releases later all of the ideas have been fine tuned and made more complex. Evolution rather than revolution. If you buy any drum n bass this year pick this up, plus the upcoming Source Direct LP. Lowfish - Fear Not the Snow and Oter Lo-Fiing Objects I've been hooked on Suction's output ever since the first Solvent/Lowfish split 12". The melodies are decent, but Mr De Rocher cooks up a wide variety of warm, fuzzy, grungy textures. Sorry Bobby Digital, this shit is analog! GD
