sorry to be so late on these responses, i was out of town th,fri, sat, and spent all today playing parappa---godddammn funny game!!(is this art-wank??? ;-) anyway... xxxxxxx@xxxx.xxx (Sean Cooper) writes: >>Obligatory IDM talk: I've been searching the net for the past month >or so >>trying to find out whether or not "Industrialsamplecoregouchbeat" by >TRASH <SNIP> >ok, not great. a competent release with an intriguing concept that >nonetheless doesn't quite make it past, well, just sorta ok. of >course, >vital's been ramping its anti-mp campaign of late, so take that with a >pincha... Well, i have to agree. IMHO, Of the recent 'drill n' bass' comps, this one falls right in the middle. (better than spunk jazz, not as good as noodles) Six artists involved : more from no future/mosquito than spymania (though the drill n' bass v. 'weirdbeat' techno tracks are split) . Hardy Spymania aka Hardy Finn aka Barry Pseudonym aka comeonfeelthenothing aka 1/2 wafta; DJ Decay aka Christian Vogel; Mat Yee-King aka Mat Consume(the no future guy), i think...;marvelous mdk=??; milky boy is involved with bovinyl someway...much better than the other bovinyl cum. ; oh, and jamie lidell aka jamie lidell (mosquito); not really in the mood to write a full review (i'll post one tomarrow), but here's the tracklisting: Hardy Spymania: Scum Milky Boy: the last atari Jamie Lidell: onabouldapushin Matt Yee-King: Shrink Panther Milky boy: Kate's Rush DJ Decay: Buckaroo Jamie Lidell: riddlin the marvelous mdk: ultimetly boring (but easy) Matt Yee-King: Drink The Cuntshake Milky boy: What I Hate Deserves It DJ Decay: Too Much of The stuff actually, it's more like the artist is 'trash' (which is a group consisting of all six members), but each track is credited to only one artist. it's pretty good stuff... doesn't really leave much of an aftertaste though... a lot more 'cross pollination', traces of rock and stuff. definatly pick up Noodles 1 [deathofcool] first [end]
