Might be news to some of you, but ever since Matador and nothing have been
picking up on electronic artists due to the dearth of interesting rock on
either label right now (Cat Power happily excepted), autechre, plaid, BoC,
burger/ink, squarepusher and assorted others have been charting quite well
on CMJ (College Music journal, sort of like Billboard for college radio)
thanks very much.

Meaning: a good number of warp artists are known by the large swath of
college radio listeners who may very well be only casually or peripherally
interested. The inner sanctum has been broken-- IDM is not very obscure
anymore. But then, who cares. The shows aren't ruined anyway, since most
Americans have such a fetish about live instrumental performances they
wouldn't go to an IDM show unless it's got giant dancing/fucking day-glo
teddy bears. But don't be thinking this list comprises more than a small
percentage of Autechre buyers-- possibly just some of the more rabid ones,
from what I've seen.

Trust it: The kids are all right.
