Buried in the content below is a piece of self-promotion. Find it and win a prize! OK, thoughts about music for today: 2 Lone Swordsmen's "Stay Down" is a great album and I'm glad I waited to pick it up since Matador just reissued it with extra tracks. I'm borrowing a friend's copy right now, and it's on my list of "soon to be picked up". 2 Pole records playing together at the same time is pretty damn close to Nirvana (no, not Kurt's band). Especially that track of CD/LP1 that keeps building and building and building and finally disolves, mixed over "Fahren" from CD/EP2. "Bass" is now spelled "P O L E". Mike Grant's new 12" on Moods-n-Grooves just keeps impressing me more & more as I DJ it. The B2 is the cut on this one. It's just so damn good. Bassy as hell, which is the way I like it, and nice shuffled percussion, plus flanged pads that lesser producers would kill for. Buy it! The last Sound Signature (I think) with "Dance of the Drunken Drums" on one side has a great feel to it. I love the double-time feel of the percussion on the one side (which is the track I bought it for) but the analog-sequenced piano lines on the flip are even nicer. I love records like that, ones you buy for a certain track but end up liking for a different one. It's like twice the loving for half the price. OK, now for the self-promo. At 8:30PM EST, I'll be DJing a set of cool, moody, interesting records. Check out www.detroitpeoplemover.com for the ShoutCast broadcast, and later this week I'll try to post at least a playlist (if not an archive). Selected records include the above mentioned, probably, plus others in that moody sort of vein. http://www.detroitpeoplemover.com - 8:30PM, EST, be there or be [].
