--- The message comes a week late because I was out of town this past week, so bear with me folks ; | --- Well, let me tell you, I witnessed two of the finest djs working today, and one of them, a certain Dr. Alex Patterson, only does it 'every once and a while'. Whooooo......crazy shit. When Mixmaster started mixing in 'Port Rhombus' I went fucking ape. Damnit he's good! However when Alex and Andy began with an alomost unrecognizable mix of 'Perpetual Dawn' slowly mutating into jungle, dub, and basically every other genre of electronic produced, and of a class you rarely hear at shows these days, I bowed politely to MMM and gave the Orb the pure, singular attention they deserved that night. Anyone who changed their minds about going when Photek bailed missed huge. I actually feel sorry for you if this is the case. Take that as you please :). Oh, and Greg, I neglected to introduce myself that night but my brother and I felt (both aurally, and bodily) that your mixing was the perfect prelude--and a welcome diversion from the early, and frankly mediocre jungle being spun-- to Yakudo (infucking human precision!) and the rest. Doumo Arigatou Gozaimashita Clow-san!! About those recs.... I was extremely lucky to find a new copy of Panasonic's Vakio on 4 10"s of fittingly serene clear vinyl. Previously my experience of these two fellows came in the form of Mika's solo ONKO, and hmmmm, as good as that is, the beats really make the difference for me. Kulma is now a crazily important record to find and pick up. Insular genius of the highest form, or unform depending upon your viewpoint. Also very lucky to find Possible 001, PCM's Year Zero ep if you're wondering.... and will say with a nudge that 'Year Zero' has one of the craziest breaks I have ever heard after the words: we were warned of judgement, well here it is now, here. RUSH SLAM BOOOOOOM!!!! Like candy I love it to pieces! MMMM! Moving along, I discovered SUCTION 001 and 002 at Metropolis recs in Toronto, listened briefly to them in the store and that was more than enough to convince me of this labels up and storming status in the biz.....original, deeply-felt experimental beauty with Lowfish my early favourite especially with 'big robot/deep pond' on 002's bside. Finally (if anyone is still reading 'wink, wink') go out and pick up Selected Amb. 85-92 on vinyl, it's bloody everywhere and happy is far too insignificant a word to describe my feelings at finally listening to it. Damn it! There's too much good shit these days! Although, for a change it's bloody nice to be able to complain about too much of a good thing, eh? Well that's it--well it being rather large--from me. nighty-night, And. ######=============^=============###### Andrew Minett, resident pusher of FREAKONESEES Floating out of London, ON on 94.7 FM Every Wed. from 2 to 6 a.m. tune in on the web @ http://www.usc.uwo.ca/chrw/main/chrw.ram "It's just like a right strange dimension." -Richard D.
