I found sort of what I had originally intended to find, if anyone's
interested. It's a vari-speed CD player-emulator called Retro CD 1.5. A
demo is available at various points throughout the internet (try MIT's
hyperarchive), which allows for 4 hours of occasionally interrupted use
upon installation, before registering for $10. It will buffer, then play
audio directly off of a CD at a variable rates from 200% to 0% at degrees
of %0.001. I burned a CD of some looped audio, then tooled for a bit,
mixing it with records and such. Really handy for the live. Thanks for all
of the suggestions, though. I think I will check out that Var-Fi plug in,
Martin. You've managed to coax some great sounds out of it. -Keith
