Does anybody have any more info >on this format? the audio segment of mpeg4 gives you a ' palette ' of compression tools for achieving low bite rate audio . i suspect that the flavour of compression used here is the ' general audio coding tool ' , which is pretty much based on mpeg2 AAC audio coding but souped up a little bit to include a few new extra tricks . check out the mpeg home page at http://drogo.cselt.stet.it/mpeg/ for the whole lowdown . the spec got publically released about 2 / 3 weeks ago . hope this is some interest ? mark b .
